Flexifoil Atom 2008

The new Flexifoil Atom08 has been designed to be comfortable and fun to ride - whatever the weather conditions.

The Flexifoil Atom 08 design and hybrid shape delivers rock-solid stability, huge depower and predictable, responsive handling.

Flexifoil asked their customers what they wanted from a kite that would satisfy first-time kitesurfers and would also suit riders making the transition from “C” shaped kites to the bow style kites.

The end result is that the overall stability and useable wind range has been improved through detailed refinement of the aerodynamic elements of each size of the Atom 08.

Performance Characteristics:

Simplicity of setup The Flexifoil Atom08 is an excellent all-rounder straight ‘out of the bag’, with no tuning required. Colour-coded lines and attachment points make the process of attaching your kite to the control bar very straight forward. The ‘Single-Point Inflation System’ provides you with a quick and hassle free inflation of your kite even on the most windswept beaches.

Ease of use The Atom08 has excellent stability, is well behaved and very predictable. It will never drop out of the sky unexpectedly and is intuitive to fly under control throughout its wind range.

Jumping If you like going big then the control offered with the Atom08 lets you go HUGE. Within its normal wind range, sending the kite results in big jumps with great float.

Turning style (Tunable)

The Atom08 hybrid design provides the rider with a progressive, predictable feel throughout the whole turn. The feedback you feel through the bar means that you know exactly where the kite is at any time. You can sense what the kite is doing and therefore concentrate on your riding and not the kite.

Turning speed (Tunable) The Atom08’s turning speed has been improved upon from the original Atom(07). By moving the attachment point towards the wingtip of the kite, the turn speed has been increased, providing more reactive control.

Safety system The ‘All-in-One Bar’ safety system kills 90% of the power of the kite in one fast dependable action. This results in the kite coming down at the edge of the window ready for easy relaunch. This proven safety system is the best on the market for reliability, release force and ease of re-assembly - even when it’s under the water.

Relaunch There are two possible relaunching scenarios on the Atom08, and in both cases it’s very simple and easy to get going again ...

1) The kite has landed at the edge of the window as a result of using the safety system or letting go of the bar. In this case, steer the kite off the water.

2) The kite has landed in the centre of the window (on its front) as a result of steering the kite in to the water. To relaunch simply swim towards the kite to roll it on its back, steer to the edge of the window and then steer off the water. This relaunch technique is the same as a conventional ‘C’ shape kite.

Wave riding (Tunable) The Atom08 won’t pull you off the wave and the improved profile makes it very difficult to stall. It drives through the turn keeping you powered and ahead of the whitewater.

Bar pressure (Tunable) The bar pressure is nicely balanced to give good feedback without being too heavy on the arms.

Bar system (Tunable) Simple, effective and comfortable. The control bar and depower system will allow you to trim the kite easily whilst riding - allowing you to concentrate on your kiting without any distractions.
